For those of you who are still a little unsure on what is and is not allowed while sticking with the Paleo diet/lifestyle, here’s a little breakdown, and for those who know the drill, a reminder:
In the words of the father of CrossFit, Mr. Greg Glassman,
“Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch
and no sugar. Keep intake to levels that will support exercise but not
–Greg Glassman, “What is Fitness?,” CrossFit Journal (Oct. 2002) pg. 1
What can’t you eat?
No bread, pasta, grains, legumes (beans, peanuts!), milk, cheese,
sugar, alcoholic beverages….THOSE are the big ones. Stay away from
as I like to call it “Processed Crap.”
Keep your salt intake to a minimum, and really just try to stick with
fresh, organic produce and meats. Lean grass fed meats are the best,
good fats are encouraged (coconut oil, animal fats, some nut butters, etc.),
and LOTS of veggies!
